Sawatdee ka! My name is Susan, and I’m a Thai-Italian American writer based in the San Francisco Bay area.

I’m a former journalist with experience as a staff writer or editor at four community newspapers, most recently at The Press Democrat, a Pulitzer Prize-winning daily newspaper in Northern California. I wrote about race relations, education, politics, feminism, food, arts and culture.

In 2022 I began working in media literacy, using my journalism and fact-checking skills to help others counter misinformation. Even thought I’m a bit of a Luddite when it comes to new tech (I was the last among my friends and family to get a smartphone and I still love using paper planners and notebooks!), seeing how the spread of online mis- and disinformation affect us all was a huge motivating factor to get with the times and help in any way I could.

I enjoy reading, bicycling, hiking, traveling, gardening, TV, eating homemade green tea ice cream and cooking Thai food. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and I’ve lived in Montana, the Great Plains and Bangkok, Thailand. These days I live with my family in California wine country.
