Sawatdee ka! My name is Susan, and I’m a Thai-Italian American writer and editor based in the San Francisco Bay area. I’ve been a staff writer or editor at four community newspapers, most recently at The Press Democrat, a Pulitzer Prize-winning daily newspaper in Northern California.

I write about race relations, education, politics, feminism, food, parenting, arts and culture. I’m a longtime advocate for diversity in media (#representationmatters!) and I freelance edit books for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). I also dabble in copywriting for nonprofits.

I enjoy reading, bicycling, hiking, traveling, farm-to-table life, TV, eating homemade green tea ice cream and cooking Thai food. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and I’ve lived in Montana, the Great Plains and Bangkok, Thailand. These days I live with my husband and son in Sonoma County, California.
