Sawatdee ka! My name is Susan, and I’m a Thai-Italian American writer based in the San Francisco Bay area. I’ve been a staff writer or editor at four community newspapers, most recently at The Press Democrat, a Pulitzer Prize-winning daily newspaper in Santa Rosa, California.

I write about race relations, education, politics, feminism, food, parenting, literature, television, movies, music and more.

I enjoy reading aloud, riding my bike, traveling, eating homemade green tea ice cream, and cooking Thai food, among other things. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and I now live with my husband and son in Sonoma County. Previously, I’ve lived in the Great Plains, Montana, and Bangkok, Thailand.
